Lakeville, MN - About , Location & Demographics

Lakeville is a Twin Cities suburb that is in Dakota County, Minnesota.  Lakeville is approximately 23 miles south of the Minneapolis and St. Paul downtowns and lies along Interstate Highway 35 before I-35 splits to I-35 East and I-35 West.   On the Twin Cities metropolitan area's southern boundaries, Lakeville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the State of Minnesota due to their award winning schools, ease of commuting, and high quality of life.

Lakeville first became notable in 1910 when Marion Savage built the Dan Patch Railroad Line to service his Antlers Amusement Park.  Lakeville, MInnesota later became a flourishing milling center and its agriculture industry is still in operation. While many of Lakeville's workers commute north to Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and more central suburbs like Bloomington or Edina, Lakeville has had major industry since the 1960s including the Airlake Industrial Park, Scruples Professional Salon Products, and more recently SuperTarget and a Walmart Supercenter.
